Hairdryers, tongs, straighteners and grooming kit, reviewed from independent tests and buyer ratings.
TechRadar’s three-tester review, a Mumsnet curl thread and 340 Argos and Currys ratings on the FlexStyle HD446UK: fast drying, a great paddle brush, short-lived curls, three wattage figures and £225 for the older HD440SLUK.
Wahl’s spec, 167 verified Coolblue buyers and 75 Superdrug reviews agree: a sharp, well-equipped £25 home-haircut clipper whose 60-minute battery and 12-hour charge are the weak spot, though it runs plugged in.
Expert Reviews, Electric Teeth and 1,192 Argos buyers on the Oral-B iO4: four modes, a pressure ring, battery life, the optional app, a 2+1 year warranty and why the brush heads cost more than the handle over time.
TechRadar rates the i.d. curl sequence highly, Dyson’s own owner forum shows the app is the weak spot, and buyers score it 4.3/5 at Argos but 3.9 at Dyson. What each set includes, the 150°C claim and where the newer Co-anda 2x fits.
T3, Shavercheck and 105 Holland & Barrett buyers on the current 96-series Pro+: 60 minutes of battery, an 18-month 96M head at £57.99, cartridges at £5.42 that Braun says last 20 cleans or two months, and a 5-year guarantee.
T3, TechRadar and 1,565 Philips buyers on the QP2834/23: 60 minutes from a 4-hour charge (T3 says 45), blades rated at four months but dulling in weeks for some, £21.99 a two-pack, and register within 90 days.
Expert Reviews rates it a Best Buy, a colour-care specialist prefers the Gold, and 1,226 ghd buyers give it 4.5/5. Plus the warranty registration that does not extend anything, and why 185°C is the only setting.
Nobody has bench-tested the HD542UK in the UK. What exists is T3's test, a specialist blog that owns both generations and calls Scalp Shield just another heat setting, and 352 retailer ratings. Plus specs that contradict each other.
