Kärcher K2 Power Control Car & Home Review: Is the Car Kit Worth It?
The K2 Power Control is Kärcher’s entry-level washer, and the testers like it for what it is: light, simple and good enough for a muddy hatchback and a small patio. The Car & Home bundle adds the one thing a motoring tester missed most — a foam nozzle — plus a brush, shampoo and a patio cleaner. The question is whether that is worth the extra over the bare machine.
Where the reviews line up
The evidence comes from three places: a hands-on test by Parkers, the UK car-advice brand, a landscape gardener’s test for DIY Garden, and 86 verified buyers of this exact Car & Home bundle at Coolblue. The two testers used the bare K2 Power Control, which is the same machine without the kit; only the Coolblue buyers had the full box.
They agree on three things. It is easy to live with — around 4 kg, on wheels, with a telescopic handle, so it comes out of the shed for a ten-minute car rinse without a fight. It has enough power for household jobs: road grime and mud on a car, moss and algae on paving. And it is a beginner’s machine; Parkers says plainly that a keen detailer would want more flow and more attachments.
The weak points are consistent too. Parkers found the Dirt Blaster too aggressive for paintwork and stubborn marks such as bird droppings hard to shift, the 5 m hose is short (DIY Garden needed an extension lead to get round the car), and T3’s tester found the stiff hose awkward to coil away. Parkers’ only formal con was no foam lance in the box — which is exactly what the Car & Home bundle fixes.
Our view: buy the Car & Home bundle only if you will use the foam nozzle and brush; otherwise the bare machine plus a bucket does the same job. At Argos’s £170 it is a lot dearer than the bare K2 used to be, so check that price against the separate parts before you pay it.
The three reviews this summary is built from
- ParkersHands-on car-cleaning test of the bare K2 Power Control by its product-testing editor. 4/5, February 2025.
- DIY GardenA landscape gardener’s test, including car shampooing at the 20-bar setting. 5/5 in every category.
- Coolblue8.8/10 from 86 verified-buyer reviews of the exact Car & Home bundle (EU version), 13 Oct 2026.
Before the review: which K2 is this?
Kärcher sells the same K2 Power Control machine in several bundles. The K2 Power Control is the bare washer; the K2 Power Control Home adds a patio cleaner and patio detergent; the K2 Power Control Car & Home reviewed here adds a car wash brush, a foam nozzle and car shampoo on top. In the UK the Car & Home is listed on Argos (Argos product 8802042). We could not find a UK page for this bundle on Kärcher’s own site — only the bare machine and the Home version — so the box contents below come from the retailer listing and the EU product data. The K2 Premium Full Control is a different, dearer machine.

Parkers
Who they are: Ryan Gilmore has written about cars since 2016, joined Parkers in 2020 and in 2023 became its Deputy Commercial Content Editor, overseeing product testing, according to his Parkers author page; a car writer washing real muddy cars is the right tester for the car half of this bundle.
Parkers ran the K2 Power Control over muddy test cars and rates it an excellent pressure washer for beginners. Road grime and mud came off well; embedded dirt such as bird droppings was harder. The Dirt Blaster rotating nozzle is, in the tester’s words, too aggressive for paintwork, so the Vario Power lance does nearly all the car work — its car setting cleans without damage. The hose locks at both ends, so it is unlikely to pop off mid-wash, and the wheels and roughly 4 kg weight make it easy to move and store.
The criticisms matter for this bundle. The only formal con was no foam cannon in the box; the suction tube, Parkers says, suits stonework and garden furniture better than a car, and it later tested snow foam with a bought-in lance. The Car & Home kit answers that with a foam nozzle and shampoo. Parkers also notes the second handle needs four small screws that slipped on the plastic and left a panel vibrating — worth tightening properly on day one. Its view of who should look elsewhere is blunt: a dedicated detailer would want more attachments and more flow.

Who they are: DIY Garden is a UK gardening and DIY site that began as a blog in 2016, written by a small team including horticulturalists and an arborist, who say they test products; it is reader-supported through affiliate commission, so we treat it as hands-on editorial opinion. The review is credited only to a “Landscape Gardener”, and we could not find a published profile for that author.
This is the warmer of the two tests. The tester was set up in about five minutes with no tools, then used the 20-bar soft spray to shampoo a car and the full 110 bar to rinse it, and cleaned mud and stains off a second vehicle. It found the machine light and quiet, the plastic build solid rather than cheap, and the gap to a more powerful 135-bar rival unnoticeable in use. The Kärcher Home & Garden app, which suggests pressure settings by job, gets a mention as genuinely helpful.
Two things to weigh. The tester had no patio, so the patio cleaner — half of what you pay for in this bundle — was never tried. And the 5 m hose was short enough to need an extension lead; with the 5 m mains cable that is still only a 10 m reach from the socket. A perfect score with that caveat in the same review tells you the scoring is generous, so we weight the detail above the stars.

Who they are: Coolblue, an online electronics retailer in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, only invites reviews from people who bought the product, has an employee read each one before it appears, publishes negative reviews and bars rewarded ones, which makes it solid buyer evidence.
No UK retailer page we could read showed a rating with a sample size for this bundle, so the best buyer evidence is Dutch. The EU bundle (Kärcher code 1.673-607.0) lists the same contents as the UK one: gun, lance, rotary nozzle, washing brush, foam sprayer, T 150 patio cleaner and half a litre each of car and patio cleaner. Its Belgian page showed 78 reviews with the same shape, so the count depends on which shop you read.
Two reviews in every hundred are below three stars, which is a strong result for a cheap pressure washer. The praise is about power and versatility for the money — a good entry-level machine that cleans tiles quickly. The complaints are mild and useful: one buyer felt the accessories could have been better for the price, another that you have to work the patio cleaner slowly and thoroughly to get an even result. Nobody in what we read comments on noise or long-term durability; these are mostly early reviews. Coolblue’s page also ticks “Bluetooth”, which we could not confirm on any Kärcher spec sheet, so ignore it.

What holds up
- Light and easy to store — about 4 kg on wheels, with a telescopic handle.
- Enough power for mud and road grime on a car and moss on paving.
- The Vario Power lance goes down to a gentle 20 bar for paintwork.
- The Car & Home kit adds the foam nozzle Parkers missed, plus a brush and shampoo.
- Hose locks at both ends; quick to set up with no tools.
- Cheap to run: about 37p an hour at full draw on our sums.
- Five-year guarantee if you register within 28 days.
What people complain about
- The Dirt Blaster is too aggressive for car paint.
- Stubborn marks such as bird droppings need more than the K2 offers.
- The 5 m hose is short; you may need an extension lead.
- The stiff hose is awkward to coil away, and the handle screws can work loose.
- A beginner’s machine — detailers will want more flow and attachments.
- At £170 the bundle costs much more than the bare machine has sold for.
Who it actually suits
Buy it if you wash one or two family cars on the drive, want to foam them properly rather than sponge them from a bucket, and have a small patio or path to keep clear of moss. Everything is in one box and the machine is light enough that you will actually use it. If the car also carries a roof box, our Thule Motion 3 roof box review is the next read.
Look elsewhere if you have a large patio or driveway, or you are serious about detailing. A bigger machine such as the Kärcher K4 Power Control gives you more flow and a longer hose. For indoor jobs a pressure washer is the wrong tool: the Kärcher SC 3 EasyFix steam cleaner and the Kärcher WV 6 Plus window vac do those better.
What we could not check
- Kärcher’s own UK page for this bundle. We found Kärcher UK pages for the bare K2 Power Control and the Home bundle, but none for the Car & Home. Its UK availability rests on the Argos listing and PriceSpy (in stock at £170, 13 October 2026).
- The Argos seller, rating and price on the page itself. Argos pages are rendered in the browser and would not load for us, so the £170 is PriceSpy’s reading, and we could not see the star rating, review count or “sold by” line. An older Latest Deals post shows the bundle at £130 at Argos; we could not see its date.
- An RRP. Kärcher UK publishes no price we could read for the Car & Home. Parkers gave an RRP of £119.99 for the bare K2 Power Control in February 2025.
- Noise. Kärcher UK gives no dB figure. The 74 dB(A) and 90 dB sound-power figures come from a Danish retailer’s listing for the Home bundle.
- Weight. Four figures from four sources (4, 4.3, 4.4 and 5.4 kg); the difference is probably whether the gun, lances and hose are included, which none of them says except Kärcher.
- Hands-on tests of the car kit itself. Neither tester used the foam nozzle or brush supplied in this bundle, and nobody we found tested the T 150 patio cleaner on this machine.
- Long-term durability. Most buyer reviews are early; we found no evidence either way on pump life.
- The videos. They were confirmed by search listing, not by opening them, and none is confirmed to show the Car & Home bundle.
