Shark Klik n’ Flip S6003UK Review: The Steam Mop With Two Sides to Its Pad

Every editorial reviewer who has tried it likes it, and 1,417 buyer ratings average 4.7 out of 5. It steams in about 30 seconds, the double-sided pad really does double the cleaning between changes, and it is still on sale new from Shark at £104.99. The question the reviews skip is the one that matters most in a British house: is your floor actually safe to steam? That is your flooring maker’s call, not Shark’s, and we explain why.

Where the reviews line up

The evidence comes from three places: a hands-on test by Trusted Reviews (backed up by home tests at Ideal Home and T3), owners talking about steam mops and laminate in two Mumsnet threads, and the 1,417 customer ratings shown at Currys and AO. On the mop itself they agree to a surprising degree.

Three things come up everywhere. It is quick: steam in around 30 seconds, by Trusted Reviews’ test and Shark’s retailers alike. The flip-over pad is the real idea — when one side is dirty you turn the head over and carry on, then release the pad with your foot rather than your fingers. And it leaves floors dry fast and smear-free, which Trusted Reviews saw on laminate and T3 on lino and tiles.

Two honest caveats. It will not stand up on its own — every editorial reviewer says so — so you need a wall or a hook. And the tank is small: about 0.35 litres for roughly 11 minutes of steam, so a big kitchen-diner plus hallway is a two-fill job.

The buying decision is about your floor, not the mop. Shark says it suits “all sealed hard floors” and warns off unsealed wood. Several Mumsnet owners use one on laminate for years without trouble; others report swelling and lifted edges, and quote flooring makers who say never steam. Check the care guide for your own laminate or engineered board before you buy — if it says no steam, using one can cost you the floor’s guarantee.

The three reviews this summary is built from

Before the review: is it still sold, and which one?

Yes. On 6 October 2026 Shark’s own UK shop listed the Klik n’ Flip Automatic Steam Mop S6003UK as available at £104.99 (was £144.99), and Currys had it at £104.99. You will also see it called the “Klik n’ Flip Smartronic” or “Deluxe Steam Pocket Mop” — same model, older names. Lakeland’s listing is marked discontinued, Costco sells an S6003UKCO bundle with six pads, and the black S6003UKDB is a colour variant. The S6001UK is the older manual version without automatic steam.

Trusted Reviews

Editorial test Hands-on review of the S6003UK, with timed heat-up and run time · trustedreviews.com · the only source that timed a full tank

Trusted Reviews’ verdict is that the Klik n’ Flip “sets the standard for steam mops”, and its test gives the two numbers that decide how the mop fits your house: steam in around 30 seconds and around 11 minutes of high-power steam per tank. On laminate the reviewer found the pads glided with a very light push and pull, with good edge cleaning and a buffed, smear-free finish. The pros list is powerful steam, the double-sided pads, an effective steam blast and a sturdy build. The one con is that it does not stand up on its own, and the flip-down tank cap “takes a bit of a tug” to open.

Two other home tests say much the same. Ideal Home (Rebecca Lawton, February 2026) used it across a kitchen, conservatory, hallways and bathrooms and called it reliable, practical and surprisingly powerful, while noting that it needs more effort than motorised mops. T3 (Derek Adams, 2022) gave it a Platinum Award, preferring it to the Kärcher SC3 for its bigger pad and lower price. Watch for small figure differences: Trusted Reviews prints a 330 ml tank, 2.6 kg and an 8 m cable, where Shark, T3 and Ideal Home all say 6 m. None of the three measured noise.

Mumsnet

Community “Steam mop for laminate floors” (July 2019, 9 replies) and “Steam Mops - are they worth it?” (January 2023, 27 replies) · thread one · thread two · where the laminate question actually gets argued

These threads are not reviews of the S6003UK, and the posters are not verified buyers — but they are the only place we found owners talking frankly about what steam does to British floors over years rather than in a test week. In the 2019 thread the main advice is against steaming laminate, with posters quoting flooring makers’ care instructions — “do not use steam cleaners or wet mops, which may cause irreparable damage” — and warning of swelling and lifting at the edges. Two posters push back: both use a Shark steam mop weekly on sealed laminate or LVT and report no problems, one for a year, one for years, while admitting it is not recommended.

The 2023 thread runs the same way. One owner says a steam mop “warped my laminate floors over time”; another says steam can lift the edges, and that it can affect the adhesive on LVT. Against that, a long-term user says fifteen years of steaming has been fine as long as you keep the mop moving and never hold it in one place. On Shark specifically there are two happy owners — one using a new Klik n’ Flip on tiles — and one who found it “a lot of faffing about” for no gain over an ordinary mop. The lesson is not that the Shark is risky; it is that the floor decides.

Currys and AO

Retailer ratings 4.7/5 from 1,417 customer reviews at Currys and the same 4.7/5 from 1,417 at AO, both checked 6 October 2026 · currys.co.uk · ao.com

Treat this as one number, not two. Two separate shops showing exactly the same score from exactly the same count almost certainly means a shared review feed, so this is 1,417 ratings, not 2,834. It is still a large sample for a steam mop and a very high average. Shark’s own UK shop shows a lower 3.5 out of 5, but we could not see how many reviews that is based on, so we cannot weigh it.

We could not read the individual review text on either page — it loads after the page does — so we cannot tell you what the complaints are. What the retailer pages do confirm is the box: the mop, two machine-washable Dirt Grip pads, a filling flask and the instructions. Currys lists a 1-year guarantee where Shark says 2 years; register the mop with Shark to be sure of the second year.

Strengths and weak points

What holds up

  • Steam in around 30 seconds — measured by Trusted Reviews.
  • The double-sided pad doubles the cleaning area between changes, and the pad comes off without touching it.
  • Three steam levels plus a Steam Blast burst for dried-on spills.
  • Leaves hard floors dry quickly and smear-free, in three separate home tests.
  • Chemical-free: water only.
  • Cheap to run — under 6p a tank by our sum — and pads are washable rather than disposable.

What people complain about

  • Will not stand upright on its own.
  • Small tank: about 11 minutes of steam per fill.
  • Stiff tank cap and a stiff pad-release button (Trusted Reviews, T3).
  • Steam on laminate and engineered wood is disputed — some owners report swelling and lifted edges.
  • Replacement pads are £19.99 a pair, and Ideal Home reports Shark suggests changing them every few months.
  • Guarantee is only 2 years, and only if you register for the second.

Who it actually suits

Buy it if your floors are tile, stone, vinyl or sealed hardwood, you want to clean without chemicals, and your hard floors are a size you can do in one or two tanks. With pets or small children it is the most praised steam mop at this price, and the flip pad genuinely saves stopping to change it.

Look elsewhere if your laminate or engineered board maker says no steam — use a spray mop with a washable pad instead. If you want to suck up crumbs and mop in one pass, Shark’s own motorised models cost more. And if the job is mostly carpets, a good vacuum such as the Shark Stratos or the Henry HVR160 matters more than a steam mop.

What we could not check

  • Tank size and weight. Published figures run from 0.33 to 0.66 litres and from 2.6 to 3.75 kg, and Shark’s own UK page carries the highest of both. We have printed them all; nobody explains the gap.
  • Noise. No reviewer, retailer or Shark page gives a figure in dB.
  • Whether your laminate or engineered wood is safe to steam. That depends on the floor maker’s care guide, which we cannot see for you. Shark says sealed hard floors only.
  • Shark’s instruction booklet and FAQ pages would not load for us, so the full floor and care warnings come from Shark’s shop pages and Shark Ireland.
  • The guarantee registration terms. We saw the 1 + 1 year description at Euronics and Shark Ireland, but not Shark UK’s own terms page.
  • What the 1,417 buyers complain about. The review text at Currys and AO did not load, and we could not see how many reviews sit behind Shark’s 3.5/5.
  • Long-term durability. No source tracks how long the mop or its pads last.
  • The videos. All three were confirmed by search listings, not by opening them — YouTube does not load from here — and none of the listings named the channel.
  • Which? We did not find a public Which? result for this model.
