Vax ONEPWR Glide 2 Review: Floors Left Dry, but Mind the Price Maze

Vax’s cordless wet-and-dry floor washer vacuums, washes and dries sealed hard floors in one pass, and the thing every tester notices is how dry it leaves them. It runs on the same 4Ah ONEPWR battery as Vax’s cordless vacuums. The catches are a 20-minute run time, 5.4 kg to carry upstairs — and a set of Vax listings where the same machine costs anything from £229.99 to £349.99.

Where the reviews line up

We drew on three sources: a timed hands-on test by Trusted Reviews, a four-month home test by Mumsnet’s editorial team, and customer ratings at Littlewoods and Vax — 4.1/5 from 233 reviews and 4/5 from 313 when we checked on 12 October 2026. They agree on most of what matters.

Three things come up everywhere. Floors come out nearly dry: Trusted Reviews found its test floor “practically dry” after the last pass, and Mumsnet’s tester says the same about wood, tile and laminate. It deals with dried-on mess — Trusted Reviews lifted a dried barbecue-sauce stain and Mumsnet found it good on old spills. And the edges are good, if not perfect: Trusted Reviews ran it along a kitchen plinth and left only a small trace of dirt.

Two caveats are just as consistent. Twenty minutes is the budget — Trusted Reviews timed 21 minutes 13 seconds on the 4Ah battery, enough for a 25 m² kitchen and the rest of a ground floor, and found the 0.75-litre dirty tank usually needed emptying before the clean tank ran out. And it is heavy to carry at 5.4 kg, and noisier than a mop, which Mumsnet’s tester flagged.

It is worth buying at £229.99, not at £349.99. Vax currently sells near-identical Glide 2 boxes at three different prices on its own site, so check the model number and what is in the box before you pay — and register it, because the third year of the guarantee depends on that.

The three reviews this summary is built from

Before the review: which Glide, and which box?

The Glide 2 (CLHF-G2KS) is still current — Vax lists it and we found no Glide 3. It replaced the original ONEPWR Glide (CLHF-GLKS); if a listing says CLHF-GLKS, it is the older machine. On 12 October 2026 Vax’s own site showed three Glide 2 listings: the CLHF-G2KS at £299.99; a “Glide 2 Plus” (CLBN-G2FS) at £229.99, down from £349.99, which adds a spare filter; and a CLBN-G2SB at £349.99, which Vax’s page title links to a free brushroll. All three list the same 1 × 4.0Ah battery, slide charger, tray and 250 ml of solution. Vax’s range page swapped the Plus and non-Plus names between two of our visits, so go by the model number and the box contents, not the name.

What it costs to run

Electricity is the cheapest part of owning one. Vax does not publish the battery’s voltage, but replacement ONEPWR packs are sold as 18V, so a 4.0Ah pack holds about 72 Wh. Allowing roughly 15% for charging losses, a full recharge draws about 0.085 kWh — about 2.2p at the Ofgem cap of 26.32p/kWh, or around £1.15 a year at one clean a week. That is our sum, not Vax’s. The real running costs are the consumables: Vax’s solution is £9.99 a litre (Trusted Reviews’ figure), a pair of replacement brushrolls is £21.99, and the guarantee is void if you use another maker’s solution or fill the tank with hot water.

Trusted Reviews

Editorial test “Vax ONEPWR Glide 2 Review: Clean and dry hard floors”, tested on the 4Ah battery · trustedreviews.com · the only source with a timed battery run

Who they are: Trusted Reviews is a UK tech and home review site whose editors use each product and pair that with industry-standard tests in equipped facilities; it says manufacturers don’t vet its reviews and it never takes money to test, so it is a strong hands-on source. We could not read a byline or date on the review page, though Trusted Reviews promoted it in July 2023.

This is the most structured test we found. Trusted Reviews ran the Glide 2 over a muddy floor with larger chunks and ground-in dirt, along a kitchen plinth, over a barbecue-sauce stain left to dry, and then over the floor again to judge how wet it was left. It also used it for real on a 25 m² kitchen with a fairly dirty floor and the rest of a ground floor. The battery ran for 21 minutes 13 seconds — slightly better than Vax’s claim of up to 20.

The verdict is warm: “a great hard floor cleaner”, with drying the strongest point — after the final pass the floor was practically dry and people could walk straight on it. Edge cleaning was good rather than perfect, with a small trace of dirt left at the plinth. The dirty tank usually needed emptying before the clean tank ran dry; a float cuts the suction when it is full. The complaints are about dosing: you squeeze the trigger to release solution, which makes it “easy to be trigger happy”, and there is no hot-air drying of the brushrolls in the dock. The tester would slightly prefer a machine that doses automatically.

Mumsnet

Editorial test “Vax ONEPWR Glide 2 Hard Floor Cleaner Review” by Rachel Erdos, 4.5/5, last updated 19 August 2025 · mumsnet.com · four months of weekly use in a family home

Who they are: Rachel Erdos is a Mumsnet content editor who, per her Mumsnet author page, commissions and writes family travel reviews and previously worked at the Guardian and Jetsetter; she is not a floorcare specialist, so this is a long, careful owner-style home test rather than an expert bench test — weight it for living with the machine, not for measured performance.

Where Trusted Reviews tests a machine in a set of controlled jobs, Mumsnet lived with it: four months of weekly cleans and on-the-spot spills on wooden floors in a lounge, ceramic tiles in a kitchen-diner, and laminate. That is the longest use of any source here, and it matters for a machine whose brushrolls and filter you have to keep clean.

The praise matches Trusted Reviews: fresh and dried-on spills come up, floors are almost completely dry straight away, and the LED headlights helped in a windowless bathroom. The self-clean flushes the brush head, and a light flashes when the dirty tank is full. The criticism is more practical. It is heavy to carry up and down stairs even though it glides well on the floor, it is quite noisy, it will not shift dirty grout, and it is for sealed hard floors only. The tester puts the price at £350 RRP and often around £250, and points out that at weekly use the first year works out at under £7 a clean.

Littlewoods and Vax

Retailer ratings 4.1/5 from 233 reviews at Littlewoods; 4/5 from 313 at Vax — both 12 October 2026 · littlewoods.com · vax.co.uk

Who they are: Littlewoods is a UK online department store whose star ratings come from shoppers on its product pages; Vax’s ratings are on the maker’s own shop. We could not find a review policy for either, and we could not tell whether some reviews are shared between the two sites, so treat these as unverified customer experience and read the pattern, not the stars.

These are the biggest samples available: 546 ratings between them, both landing at around four out of five. That is a good but not glowing score for a £230–£350 machine, and it sits below the two editorial verdicts. We could not read any review text on the Littlewoods page, and the Vax page showed only five-star reviews when we checked, so we cannot tell you what the lower scores complain about.

The comments Vax does show are still useful for the detail. One owner says it is light and easy to operate and does what it says; another with limited mobility can now clean a tiled floor without vacuuming first. One reviewer notes that extra drying strokes are sometimes needed to pick up water, and that dried-on splash marks take more effort — the nearest any buyer comes to a complaint. Another says Vax repaired theirs rather than replacing it, which is a point in favour of registering for the full guarantee.

Strengths and weak points

What holds up

  • Leaves sealed floors practically dry — every source says so.
  • Lifts dried-on spills, not just fresh ones.
  • Good edge cleaning along units and skirting.
  • Separate 1-litre clean and 0.75-litre dirty tanks, so you never mop with dirty water.
  • About 25-second self-clean in the tray, and the brushrolls come out to wash.
  • Shares its 4Ah battery with other Vax ONEPWR machines.
  • Three-year guarantee once registered, and cheap spare parts.

What people complain about

  • Around 20 minutes per charge — about one ground floor.
  • The dirty tank fills before the clean tank empties.
  • 5.4 kg is heavy to carry upstairs.
  • Manual trigger dosing makes it easy to use too much solution.
  • No hot-air drying of the brushrolls, unlike some rivals.
  • Quite noisy, and no use on dirty grout, carpet or unsealed floors.
  • Confusing prices: £229.99 to £349.99 at Vax for near-identical boxes.

Who it actually suits

Buy it if you have a kitchen, hallway and downstairs loo of tile, laminate or sealed wood, you mop at least weekly, and you want floors you can walk on straight away. It makes most sense if you already own a Vax ONEPWR vacuum, because a spare battery then doubles your run time. Pay the lower Glide 2 price rather than the higher one.

Look elsewhere if you have a large open-plan ground floor, a lot of carpet, unsealed wood or grubby grout lines. For carpets and rugs a dedicated carpet washer such as the Vax Platinum SmartWash is the better tool. If you want a mains-powered wet-and-dry washer with no battery limit to compare, look at the Bissell CrossWave HydroSteam. If grout and sealed tiles are the job, steam does what the Glide cannot: compare the Shark Klik n’ Flip steam mop and the Kärcher SC 3 EasyFix. You still need to vacuum carpets with something like the Shark Detect Pro.

What we could not check

  • The videos. All three were confirmed by search listing — each watch URL and title appeared in two differently worded web searches — not by opening them, and the listings did not name the channels.
  • Who wrote the Trusted Reviews test, and when. The page did not show us a byline, score or date; a Trusted Reviews post promoting it dates from July 2023.
  • Lab testing. We found no published Which? result or other lab test for the Glide 2 we could cite.
  • A community source. We found no forum or Reddit thread on the Glide 2 with enough posts to use, so two of our three sources are editorial.
  • What the low ratings say. Littlewoods showed no review text and Vax showed only five-star reviews, and we could not tell whether the two sites share some reviews.
  • Noise. Vax publishes no figure. The 86 dB we found is on a refurbished-stock listing at Direct Vacuums only.
  • Battery voltage. Vax gives only “4.0Ah”. Our running-cost sum uses the 18V printed on third-party replacement packs and assumes 15% charging loss.
  • Tank sizes. Vax’s own documents say 1 l clean and 0.75 l dirty; AO and Review Electricals say 600 ml clean, and Currys Business and Mumsnet give other dirty-tank figures. We have used Vax’s.
  • Vax’s three listings. We could not confirm the full difference between CLHF-G2KS, CLBN-G2FS and CLBN-G2SB beyond the box contents shown, and the range page swapped their names between visits.
  • Retailer stock and sellers. AO’s and Argos’s Glide 2 pages would not show us a price or stock; Currys Business showed it out of stock and Currys’ consumer page redirected to a category list. Littlewoods named no other seller. Its £444.99 is far above Vax’s price and we could not see why.
  • Solution use per clean. No source measured how much solution a typical clean uses, so we cannot give a cost per clean for it.

Sources last checked 12 October 2026. Vax changes its Glide 2 prices and bundles often — check the model number and box contents against the listing in front of you before ordering.
